Why Nestlé needs YOUth?
We believe that communities cannot thrive if they fail to offer a bright future for younger generations. That is why we are determined to help young people develop their skills so that they can find fulfilling jobs, or create their own businesses. This helps build thriving, resilient communities and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Created in 2013, our Nestlé needs YOUth initiative helps equip young people with the skills they need to thrive in tomorrow’s workplaces. Expanded in 2017, Nestlé needs YOUth continues to help young people access the next step of their life. In the Caribbean the program exist in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Barbados to upskill young people in the region to thrive in the world of work and entrepreneurship.
Young people are the employees who will power companies.
They are the innovators and entrepreneurs who will find solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
They are the farmers who will grow the raw materials we need to feed the world.
It is not always easy to get into a job or a career that fulfils a young person. Through training and workshops we their develop skills. With mentorship we unlock their self-belief, and through traineeships we create opportunities for them.
Young people can struggle to get access to the right people and resources to make their enterprise a success. Through mentoring sessions we help them innovate, grow their expertise and expand their network.
Farming is not always profitable and sustainable enough to make a living. We need motivated and innovative young farmers to transform agriculture through the creation of new business models and diversification. We focus on upskilling young people and building their business knowledge.
We want this initiative to have a long-lasting impact, so we measure the value of our Nestlé needs YOUth initiative to both Nestlé and society.
