Nestle is taking the initiative to reduce our plastic waste and help protect our planet. We’ve taken into consideration the feedback from our first launch and we’re introducing our new and improved paper straws to our ready-to-drink products. You can see all these changes on our 200ml and 250ml beverages for some of our known favourites: Milo, Nesquik, Orchard, and Flavoured Milks.

To help facilitate this shift to paper straws, here are two quick and easy steps to note for the best consumer experience:

Step 1. Unwrap the straw carefully to ensure it is not damaged.

Step 2. To insert the straw, hold the bottom at an angle and push down firmly to pierce a hole in the foil seal.

Consumer tip!

Avoid jamming the straw with force through the foil seal as it might dent or bend the paper straw.

Once the straw is in, we hope you enjoy it!

Consumer Satisfaction

Your health and safety are our number one priority. Our improved paper straws have undergone extensive testing to ensure that the straws would maintain rigidity and stability while inserted in the pack for hours. However, we recommend consuming the beverage within the first 15 minutes of inserting the straw and avoiding chewing on the straw while enjoying your drink.

To facilitate the insertion of the paper straws, we suggest taking care when removing the straw from the packaging and firmly but not forcefully piercing the foil seal before consuming the beverage.

Environmental Benefits

Climate change is a real issue that is already affecting many lives today. Nestlé recognizes this and is working towards building a sustainable future for everyone. Along our journey, we are making small changes as we envision a future where none of our packaging ends up in the landfill or pollutes our environment. With the support and feedback from our consumers, we are constantly adapting and improving our packaging to provide the best as we transition to compostable and recyclable materials.

Plastic straws are one of the top forms of plastic waste found in the ocean. Furthermore, they are made from polypropylene, a material not recyclable in many countries. By transitioning to paper straws, which are biodegradable and commonly recycled, we are taking the necessary steps to fight against climate change, the effects of which continue to affect the environment and our daily lives.

We need your help!

By pushing the paper straw into the pack before recycling, you can help us drive this change as we work on building a safer and better environment for future generations.
