Breast Cancer Awareness Month

- Reduce your risk of breast cancer:
o Quit smoking
o Limit alcohol intake
o Keep physically active – keep a healthy weight
o Don’t overdo hormonal therapy
o Have a healthy diet - particularly one low in fat and high in vegetables and fibre
- It is recommended to have five or more servings of fruit and vegetables daily, especially cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage which are especially rich in phytochemicals.
- A study of more than 91,000 women found that following a diet comprising mainly plants could cut the risk of developing breast cancer by 15%.
