Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago wins AMCHAM T&T Excellence in HSE Awards for second consecutive year

Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Nestlé) has copped the prestigious American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) Excellence in HSE Award in the Energy and Manufacturing Sector for the second consecutive year, at the 10th Annual National Excellence in HSE Awards ceremony. Nestlé also earned the special Business Continuity and Surviving the Pandemic 2020 Award in the Energy and Manufacturing Sector – Large category.

Held via virtual ceremony on October 21st during AMCHAM T&T’s 24th Annual HSSE Conference & Exhibition, the National Excellence in HSE Awards honour companies in Trinidad and Tobago who have demonstrated HSE excellence and leadership in their operations. 

Speaking following the virtual awards ceremony, Market SHE Manager Daryle Sankar said “2020 introduced unprecedented circumstances within the context of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Adaptability and agility were key to business continuity, implementing new best practices through leveraging global resources and local know-how, while sustaining the safety behaviours already visibly lived every day. Safety is perhaps the most recognizable part of our culture, and this combination of adaptability and sustainability allowed our employees to maintain their confidence, knowing their safety is always our top priority.”

The premier award, the category of ‘Excellent HSE Performance’, was earned through meeting stringent criteria: “This company has established a strong HSE Management System AND has achieved excellent occupational health and safety, and Environmental Results. The awardee will serve as a paragon of HSE Excellence in practice and will go on to share their Success Stories with companies within the AMCHAM T&T Membership and beyond, so that we all can firstly believe that impeccable occupational safety and health, and environmental performance records can be achieved and maintained over the years, and we can learn best practices and how to overcome the practical challenges1.”  

The Business Continuity and Surviving the Pandemic 2020 Award recognized Nestlé for “the excellent job that it has done in managing its business response to the interruptions caused by COVID-19 to ensure operational resiliency. The company has implemented a strong Risk Management Plan, Business Impact Analysis, Incident Response Plan and Recovery Plan.1

Head of Market Patricio Torres congratulated the team, sharing “Safety is everyone’s priority, and these two awards are recognition of the tireless commitment of every single employee at Nestlé. I would like to congratulate our dedicated employees who continue to inspire me daily in their work to support each other and our communities with safety always as the top priority.”
