Ever dreamt of heading to Barcelona? Well, this August, 3 youngsters between the ages of seven and 12 will have the opportunity to do just that. They will visit Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s training grounds thanks to NESTLÉ MILO® and FC Barcelona. The announcement was made at a press conference in Port-of-Spain on Friday.

NESTLÉ MILO® and FC Barcelona recently signed a 4-year agreement - the first of its kind for the Good Food, Good Life company. The agreement is based on a shared vision to promote healthier lifestyles through physical activity among children, especially during their foundation years, seven to 12 years old.

Through the partnership, these two well-known brands will conduct a series of initiatives across Asia, Oceania, Africa and Latin America, impacting over 22 million youngsters. In T&T, NESTLÉ Trinidad and Tobago will host the MILO® FC Barcelona Football Skills Tournament as its chosen initiative, which will see three youths travel to Spain. While there, they will participate in FC Barcelona’s football camp at Camp Nou, in a 2-day training session with Barça coaches. One parent will accompany their son or daughter on the journey. This once-in-a-lifetime trip represents the grand prize for the MILO® FC Barcelona Football Skills Tournament which kicks off next month at NESTLÉ’s Head Office Grounds, in Valsayn.

To earn the chance to train at Camp Nou, kids must register and take part in the tournament which will run throughout July.

Also at the launch, NESTLÉ Trinidad and Tobago Limited Corporate Communications Manager Denise d’Abadie highlighted the novelty of the initiative as a first for the Nutrition, Health and Wellness company. She added that the partnership was perfectly aligned with NESTLÉ’s newly articulated purpose – “Enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future”. d’Abadie stated, “For the first time in its history, NESTLÉ global has taken the decision to partner with a football club; a partnership which will last 4 years at the onset. Driven by our purpose, this partnership will focus on enhancing the quality of life of children around the world and we are proud to have FC Barcelona as our partner in such a worthwhile venture.” NESTLÉ Trinidad and Tobago Limited and NESTLÉ Caribbean Inc. Head of Consumer Marketing Elisa Doldron seconded d’Abadie’s sentiments stating, “MILO® is honored to have one of the most prestigious, successful clubs in history - FC BARCELONA - as its partner in this venture.” After asking if there were any Barça fans in the audience, she went on to say “I’m sure you will agree; our kids will be in good hands.”

The first activity in the the MILO® FC Barcelona Football Skills Tournament takes place at NESTLÉ Trinidad and Tobago Limited’s Head Office in Valsayn on July 8th. From there, the tournament heads to Tobago on July 15th and returns to the company’s Head Office on the 22nd for another round of the tournament. On July 29th, NESTLÉ Trinidad and Tobago Limited will host the tournament’s final at its Head Office in Valsayn. Throughout the tournament, children will be assessed according to three skillsets - short passing, dribbling and control - by the Football Factory Football Academy.
